Taste According To John Ruskin

“Taste is not only a part and index of morality, it is the only morality. The first, and last, and closest trial question to any living creature is "What do you like?" Tell me what you like, I'll tell you what you are” John Ruskin.

Do you think this opinion is true ?

hmm..has merit... we can tell a lot about a person based on their aesthetic...and it gives me an idea if we have anything in common and have something of which we both agree...

It's true in a way! I agree with what eclecticrevisited said. I couldn't have said it better myself!

Well "taste" and "like" is not necessarily the same. "taste" implies so much more and when I "like" something it may even be "beyond" my usual "taste".
So to say to someone "tell me what you like and I'll tell you what you are" is not valid - it would be the same when I say "show me your nose and I'll tell you how you look like"...
