ENOUGH.. ONE MORE CHAIR IN TRELLIS AND I WILL….

……GO CRAZY.

I think I have had enough of chairs wearing trellis for the time being, regardless of the color. I know it is a trend, but does trend mean to keep using a certain fabric until every surface is covered with it ? Browsing around I see that anyone that wants to appear “trendy” and with good taste slaps a chair or a cushion with a yard of trellis and that’s it, eureka, they found the key to style. Do we need to conform to a trend to be “stylish” ?

Remember during the “beautiful” 80’s when the patterns below where used in every house to achieve the above mentioned result. High Style !

Ahhh the ghost chairs. But that is for another post. Touching those is almost a religious no no

I just reuhpolstered a chair in a lavendar trellis. And it's pretty. But I also thought to myself, 'I'll never do that again'. haha. shoot. Good thing the client doesn't know about the ocean of trellis out there right now hahhaah. She loved it, and it's actually really pretty hhaah.

I am sure your chair is beautiful Julie , it is only my sentiment towards the fabric. I am also sure the client loved it, we, in the design world, see things differently, we are too involved than clients are.

Oh mine, this is a great post! I am so tired of people re-using the same thing because it is too hard to come up with something new! Sadly, many times people love it because that is what they see everywhere so it is up to us to gently "introduce" new things :)

I have to agree again.........trellis pattern........... I don't understand why it's everywhere..........maybe everybody hates it and they just use it because they think everybody else loves it............does that make sense?
Best.......Kathi

I also agree with you Kathi, people sometimes use trends thinking that everybody wants them, and I also think designers tend to blindly go with choices of other designers they believe know what should be done and have better judgement.

Hello, I totally agree with you about trellis. Also, I am so sick of seeing the blue and grey colors that lots of people are using now, which has been popular for quite some time. I have gone from blog to blog and it is all over the place, even in very expensive houses and by high dollar designers. Give us back more traditional and more color.

I want to murder it. But it doesn't want to die. I picked out a dots fabric a while back to upholster some crap in, now its spreading like a virus. I'm getting rid of it. I being overly dramatic?

Bri, go for plains that way I guess we will never feel that they are spreading like viruses :)
